"Georgia's Lake Country"
Thousands
of visitors arrive each year to take advantage of the camping, boating,
fishing and hunting offered by Lake Oconee. Ranked as one of the top 50 golf destinations in the world by Golf Digest, the lake area has
over 171 holes of championship golf. The lake communities of
Reynolds Plantation, Great Waters, Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee and Harbor
Club offer world class golf, rental accommodations, full amenities and
variety of regional and international dining. The Historic Downtowns of
Greenboro, Eatonton, and Madison feature southern
dining, shopping, heritage attractions and true southern charm.
The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation
is a new generation of resort property, drawing on culture and heritage as
the foundation of the guest experience. With only 251 guest rooms,
including six private golf cottages and Presidential House, The
Ritz-Carlton lodge provides an exclusive getaway on beautiful lake Oconee.
The resort offers 81 holes of golf and you can pamper yourself at the
26,000 square foot full service spa.
The Rock Eagle Effigy
, located on US 41 just north of Eatonton, is a tumulus rock mound in the
shape of a great prone bird with 102-foot wingspan rising ten feet above
the surrounding surface. Georgia Power Recreational Parks include three
staffed parks around the lake with beaches, boating facilities and
campgrounds.
