As you continue east on I-20, you'll find the small, historic city of
Covington, Georgia. Covington boasts a wealth of old and new treasures for
visitors.
Adorning the main Street area and historical district are
carefully restored manor homes, churches, parks and the downtown square. A
variety of dining experiences await visitors on "the square" from a New
York style deli to traditional Italian and Cajun cuisine. In addition,
"the square" boats numerous specialty and antique shops. Still the center
of the community, "the square" is often host to festive social events such
as outdoor concerts.
Covington is home to many feature films such as "Madea's
Family Reunion" and "Remember the Titans"and hit television
shows like
"In the Heat of the Night" and the "Dukes of Hazzard". A

Visitor Information Center. A Touch of Country has memorabilia and
souvenirs from favorite television shows. Other visitors take advantage of
the many recreational facilities in and around Newton County such as
lakes, rivers, hiking trails and golf courses. Other sites to see
include Fox Vineyards, Factory Shoals Park and Turner Lake Recreation
Complex.
Cultural events
abound year-round and are presented by Oxford College, as well as the
Arts Associated in Newton County, the Choral Guild, and the local
Community Band.
